I want to introduce everyone to an acquaintance that I made in Australia. This is Wally the Giant Maori Wrasse.
Look closely-he is covered in the most beautiful blue and green pattern! (Pictures really don't do him justice.) And he has been trained to swim along and allow dozens, probably hundreds of tourists to be photographed with him. A very patient fellow. And here is my picture with him.
I am not much of a swimmer...more of a paddler/water treader, and I like to be able to touch the bottom of the pool. This was a little bit of a problem out on the Great Barrier Reef, but I jumped in anyway. Later in the day, after we had finished snorkeling around with Wally and his friends, the tide was out enough that a lot of what we had been swimming over was beginning to poke up out of the surf. So, I guess it wasn't that much of a leap of faith. Pretty exciting for a gal from Kansas, though.
