I swerve to run over hedge apples. Some folks call them Osage Oranges, but I bet those folks don't hunt them down with their cars. I do. The thump and squish is irresistible to me. Lucky for me there is a large hedge apple tree at the top of our hill. I often travel up and down that hill on a nearby street that the hedge apples roll to. Thank you gravity! It is the best place to hunt. My long suffering husband is good about keeping my car washed and clean but this year he drew the line at washing off the built-up hedge apple guts.
I got the car washed just before the last weather change, but just barely. Now that the hedge apples have frozen and thawed a few times they are too brown and mushy to be much fun. Next year guys... next year.
