September has flown by. 2008 is zooming past. Could we just slow things up a bit? Probably not. The theme for the September card swap was "Layers". I've been even more usual bird brained lately, so, of course I thought of chickens. I did not finish my cards until September 30, and in the rush to get them mailed, I forgot to take a picture of them all. I always make a couple of extra, and then send off the best of the lot. Here are the two "losers" that remained behind...they had the least number of chickens. These cards were made with fabric that had been covered in gel medium, then after it was dry, I cut out the card background and big chickens. The small chickens were just cut out of un-medium-ed fabric and glue stick-ed down. The vegetable fabric was not pretreated either, so I could cut it out and ravel out the edges and then glue stick it to the card. When the glue stick holding all of the layers was good and dry, I covered the whole card in a layer of gel medium. It created a bit of a sheen on the cards...maybe the gel medium I used was gloss instead of matte.
Linda, I love these, they are so pretty and colorful. I love roosters and my kitchen decor is shades of green, with a rooster border and roosters and chicks curtains. My hubby even found rooster light switches for me. Needless to say I really like these ATC's. Thanks for sharing your technique with us.
