The temperature here hit the triple digits today, and that is just too hot for me. Luckily, I can hide out inside and sew. Some tropical plants like these do well here with enough water, but they don't survive the winter without being dug up and then replanted in the Spring. Such beautiful leaves! Very inspirational. We splurged on cocoa bean shell mulch back in June, and it is doing a fine job of keeping the moisture in, but the fabulous chocolate smell is long gone.
Hyacinths in bloom that are mulched with cocoa bean shells can just about give you sugar shock from the smell....
