Two things happened a while back.... one-despite my best efforts to take a bag along to the store (almost)every time, we had accumulated a lot of plastic grocery store bags, and two- I had been inspired by some recycled art out and about on the Internet. So, I decided to cut all of the bags up into strips and crochet a plastic bag. The store we go to back home has very ugly brownish bags, so they have never been an inspiration, but this store has nice white bags with red and green print.
It isn't the best thinking, really, to cut up a dozen bags to make one bag, is it? And then the bag refused to happen. I crocheted more of a basket. And then tried to make it fancier by cutting up a green bag as trim. And then went back to the store and forgot the canvas bag on purpose, so I could get more bags to make a lid. And now I have something that looks like an extra roll of toilet paper cover, but it is too big for that. And it turns out that you can't steam block plastic, lol, so it is permanently misshapen.
Maybe it is a cake cozy? Anyway, I keep hearing that song in my head every time I look at this "creation". "Someone left the cake out in the rain..."
Oh dear it is a wonderful creation. What a conversation piece you have there. You were courageous to take on the task. I once thought of doing the same to crochet a sitting pad for at campouts. I have the bags but not the courage to try. I hope you don';t mind my asking but, what size hook did you use and what size are the strips cut into?
