Let's finish up these "vintage" plastic bird models. The last surviving bird is a Ruby Throated Hummingbird. This was probably my favorite of the bunch. It was fun painting the bird and the flowers. We had trumpet vines like this growing on our front porch back then in the old childhood home, but I never did see any hummingbirds on them. Most of this bird's beak is broken off and stuck in the upper flower. I was able to get him to hang in place long enough for a photo with what little beak he has left, but his nectar sipping days are over. I seem to remember building a pair of cardinals, male and female....and maybe a Blue Jay...but who knows. Maybe I just had them on my wish list, or maybe they didn't fit in the shoebox and didn't get saved.
